Went in to deal with Uncles bereavement. Struggled to find the "counter" hmm, they dont seem to have a counter. So I finally got invited to stand beside a tiny plinth with a laptop on, not too inviting is it. unfortunately the death papers had got wet in my bag, I was struggling with this, and had to put them on the floor to try and dry a little! OK, its a bank, and I guess you expect to be treated a bit like a number in a bank, but this was really brought home, going to the next institution on the list, a building society, I was invited to sit somewhere, so I could lay the papers down, and when they came back, they offered me a few envelopes to help the will and death certificates dry out a bit. Oh my, what a difference. So, HSBC, what a joke by comparison, hope I dont have to go back.

At first it was annoying as I had to come into the branch numerous times to try opening a student account. It was a long 3 week journey of complications. I was beginning to know every staff member. Then, as it was beginning to look hopeless, a very kind employee named Ellie went the extra mile to sort everything out. She was polite, cordial and redeemed the branch 5 stars. I will say now I that I finally have my account, I hope to never see you guys again! Although at the same time, I feel I may miss my daily trips to the branch.

Tried to withdraw a large-ish sum of money from the ATM, the meet and greet woman had to get permission (via the ipad) for me to do this. Tried to withdraw cash but no luck. After 4 attempts they told me to go upstairs to the counters as I can withdraw any amount I wish. Why didn't they tell that the first time? Would have saved a lot of frustration and a good 45 mins.

Been banking with HSBC for over 5 years, staff in branch are always happy to help and are swift in terms of service! I always use the counter services upstairs for account enquiries and go get money from my bank, always quick and easy and very convenient to go in for support! Machines are always in working order and I never spend too long in there!

This is an incredible bank with a very courteous and helpful staff. Alex, who opened our bank account explained us how to setup and use the mobile banking app and more. Even though we reached there on a Saturday and that too without an appointment as that's the only day we get when we were not working, the bank staff considered our application without too much formality. We had a great experience and service! Thank you HSBC

I've never tried to use the services that are criticised below, so I can't take a position on them. However, for drop-in banking and general service I've found them to be excellent. The staff have always been friendly and helpful, and I've only once had to wait long for assistance. And on this occasion the lady made me a fixed appointment for half an hour later - as that was the general waiting time anyway - and recommended a coffee shop round the corner.
I've also never been in with a problem and left with it unresolved. I do think, also, that one has to be careful not to let company policy and servicesy criticisms creep in to a store review.

A very small branch very close to Borough Market. Very conveniently located on one of the busiest streets. This location has teller service along with ATM. It's very clean and upon arrival have staff members to greet you. FYI: for travelers in need of wifi, this is the best place to go. It's free and the signal is very strong, good place to pop in for a quick surf on the net or for looking for directions. Lord knows I utilized it a few times.

I like it in here. It has posh machines that pay in, pay out and do cool things like scan and read your cheques (yes, I still use cheques now and again). I think perhaps the reason I like it in here, is because I like gadgets. Anything that makes my time in a bank or in any establishment for that matter, faster and or smoother, gets a thumbs up from me.
They also have people at the door saying 'Hello, how may I help you today.' Makes me think of that film with Will Smith, I Robot - with these scary murdering machines that will all one day take over the world. Funny old thing technology. I love it but at the same time have a deep seeded loathing for it because there is no such thing as anonymity anymore. That's life in the 21st century for you. Makes me thing of that 60's series with Patrick Mcgoohan, yelling about not being a number, but rather; "a free man." What was it called again? Oh yeah, The Prisoner.
