According to the Association of British Insurers the average pet insurance claim in 2020 was 817. Although this figure is an average for all pets, whether you own a cat, dog or horse the cost of vet treatment can vary significantly, from a few hundred pounds for a one-off injury through to thousands for an ongoing condition. As vet treatment becomes more sophisticated the cost of treatment rises. If your pet has an accident, injury or illness and requires veterinary care, you can then claim back the cost of treatment covered by your policy - minus any excess.

If your dog has an accident, the policy offers 2,500 per year towards the cost of treating their injuries resulting from that accident. The 2,500 limit applies to each accident your dog might have, and there's no limit to the number of accidents you can claim for. So even if your dog is particularly accident prone, your policy should still protect them.
Covers vet fees for accidents, illnesses and conditions for a limited period of time only. Our Time Limited policies cover each new condition for 12 months from the date your dog first shows any signs or symptoms - as long as you renew your policy. Once you reach your limit - or after 12 months, whichever comes first - you will not be able to claim for that condition again but you may be able to claim for other conditions.

Getting pet insurance when we got our pup was the best thing we did. We've unfortunately had to make 2 separate claims within a few weeks of each other in excess of 1500 and they have both been paid within a few days of making the claim. Anyone wanting to get insurance for your pet but unsure which company to go with I highly recommend animal friends get the best policy you can afford you can't go wrong :-

My dog has had a few surgeries and monthly injections for the past 3 years and I have found Animal Friends very efficient. They do direct claims which my vets put in for each time now, I just pay my bit after they have paid. This is hassle free. Not the best of cover out there but so far has been good value.

I have been with Animal Friends for most of my dog's life and although there were only a couple of claims until recently, I have to say they have always been excellent to deal with. More recently I have had two larger claims as my dog is getting older and Animal Friends paid the claims without an issue. At one point I had to clarify some information over the telephone and the person I dealt with was lovely and considerate.
We all know that our pets become part of our families and our lives and any illness is upsetting but I cannot fault Animal Friends for the way they have dealt with me and my claims.

This insurance company have been fantastic. My dog is now 6 years old and throughout his life he has ended up with so many ailments. I've never known a dog like it. They've paid out and supported us throughout it all. Fantastic, easy to use service. I have now insured my horse with them since discovering they cover horses too. Would definitely recommend!

I have just had to make a 3rd claim with this company in the 6 years I have been with them with this pet, and the speed in the pay out and ease of the process always amazes me. I have not been let down by them once. I also had brilliant experience with my previous dog and this is why I retuned. I have now taken out horse insurance with animal friends. Unable to feedback on this so far apart from the helpful customer services when discussing changes in policy's

Best prices compared to all pet insurers, especially for older pets like my 12 year old lab. Most pet insurers won't even insure older pets but they did, no problems with no ridiculous prices. I've been with them for years and wouldn't change. They always pay out on claims very quickly, I've never had any issues with them whatsoever. There's also the extra Joii app where you can speak to a vet 24/7 for free when you need help which I have used and they were great.

Took my cat to the emergency vets at the very start of December and had to submit a claim to Animal Friends. The vets decided to wait until the 30th January to submit the claim. Today I woke up to the claim amount in my bank. It took 22 hours for the claim to be investigated and accepted, and another 12 hours for the payment to be made which is incredible. The entire process was simple, easy and rapid. No issues whatsoever with Animal Friends. 10/10, would highly recommend.

Very happy with the ease of our insurance claim. Our vet claimed online directly to Animal Friends and the settlement was through within a couple of days. We didn't even have to notify the company that we were putting in a claim. Really helped to take the worry out of paying a very large bill. Thank you

I have never had to claim pet insurance before and was very worried I was going to have hassle, but this company has been superb, this year my dog has had one thing after another wrong with him, 3 separate claims and so far they have been absolutely fantastic can't thank them enough as it's money I just could not have afforded over 3000 so far and still ongoing issues. Would recommend to anyone first class service they have literally saved my dogs life. Recommend to anyone thinking of taking pet insurance.
