Everyone thinks Hastings is great. From reading other reviews this is because people have saved money from switching BUT. Let me tell you CHEAPER IS NOT BETTER. There's a reason they're cheaper than other insurers and you will find this out if you decide to take a policy out with them. If you don't ever end up involved in an accident and never need to speak to them then you are fine BUT if you ever need any sort of help and support then you may as well forget about it!
I had a car crash and they promised me the process would be stress free, they would deal with everything and that I had nothing to worry about. WRONG. I made over 20 calls to Hastings and was passed around to every department, I've sent over 50 emails and raised 3 complaints.,I 'm even at the point now where I have referred it to the financial ombudsman service for them to step in as the company is a shambles.
Majority of their staff are unskilled and have no idea, they don't know how to resolve problems and have no customer service manner. they don't call you back for week on end and will never support you with anything. My car went to 2 garages and then was even lost at one point before I waited weeks for a reply about any repairs. They use companies such as Enterprise which again are an absolute joke. PLEASE don't make the same mistake as me going for the cheaper option because saving that 20-30 a month won't seem worth it when you have any issues.

The sales team were very helpful and informative. The price is very competitive for the multi car policy we required. The only problem I had was with the web site at the how long have you lived here. we had only move a couple of months before and it would not proceed pass that point, so I had to ring up.

I have insured my car with Hastings Direct for approximately 6 years now. Each year I have looked elsewhere and compared prices. I often do not accept the quote that they give me but find a better solution on their site or with a phone call to them. Like for like they are always the best. I will stay with them as long as they continue to be the best solution to my insurance needs and I highly recommend them. In fact, if they offered discounts when we recommend them to friends, my insurance would be free by now.

I have bought a car insurance, ( paid in advance full amount ) but had to cancel it 3 days before policy have even started. I have been charged 20 for " total cost for time on cover " and I have never used it. I don't think it is fair and I have been told this is a cost of updating something. Good policy price but as soon as you are not the client anymore Poor service.

I personally don't recommend. Used to be a good company. I called today to ask if I could change/ upgrade my policy as I need to use partners car on occasion. One advisor told me I couldn't after almost forty minutes of hanging, then disconnected. Second advisor then said it was impossible to upgrade, and would have to buy a completely New policy at additional cost of almost 800, and cancel old policy with no refund etc. Avoid. It's a shame as I have used multiple times in the past with good experiences but the company is not what it used to be

The policy was easy enough to understand and purchase, it was the admin that made it hard work. I was turning a single car policy into a multi-car and was due a refund which I was told would be used to pay the first instalment of my new policy. This didn't happen and I had to then spend a while on the phone to sort it out. They tried to refund me on an expired credit card and I then was told I would be sent a cheque. Who uses cheques now? Why not just call me and ask where I wanted the refund? I can't be the first person to do this. The process needs to be slicker.
