Having advised Steve Hutchings at ICB, who represented my soon to be ex-husband and me jointly on both business and personal matters, that I was divorcing my husband and that he was to only communicate with me on my personal affairs and to take joint instructions and communicate jointly on joint polices, he contacted my estranged husband and wrote to me and two of our four children and told us to take our business elsewhere.
He further wrote that he would continue to deal with any joint policies and would liaise with both policy holders. He went on further to say that he would no longer take instructions from me as CEO of the Company and would communicate with the executive team instead. Steve Hutchings clearly thought he could undermine me as CEO because I was a woman and because my estranged husband had told him to not act for me and two of our children but could act for the other two children and the boys club closed ranks. Needless to say, I moved the Company's insurance to another broker as ICB undermined my authority as CEO by interfering in the Company reporting structures by refusing to deal with me the designated person in charge of insurance.
In terms of conflict of interest rules ICB should have stood down to both parties or continued to act for both parties individually, under GDPR rules and normal confidentiality rules between independent clients. They have continued to act for the man despite this being against the conflict of interest rules. ICB have refused to act for the two children who support me but continued to act for the other two even though ICB advised them in their sole capacities.
No conflict is present under these circumstances. ICB colluded with my estranged husband and acted unprofessionally and unethically. On renewal of the joint household policy ICB did not include me in any communications and do not write to me to get joint instructions. I advised that the policy needed to be issued in joint names and Jan Doyle and Neil Campling wrote back advising "You/Your - The person or people named in the schedule as the Insured and all permanent members of your home (including resident domestic employees and those in full-time education)".
So despite the home being in Joint names and the premium being paid from a joint account ICB refused to issue the policy in joint names and sited the clause above saying I was a named person by virtue of the fact that I was a permanent member of the Policy holder, the man's, household as if I was not his equal and some child or slave, or I was a domestic worker. ICB has again not included me in the next annual renewal communications and did not seek my instructions in regard to the joint household policy and Jan Doyle again shared my email to her raising a complaint regarding her refusal to seek instructions from me as joint policy holder with my estranged husband. The staff at ICB are misogynistic and thrive in being a boy's club that malign women. They have acted unprofessionally and unethically.

For several years now Jan Doyle (Director Private Clients Division) has managed our private insurance requirements. At the heart of a client broker relationship is trust. We trust Jan to research and recommend renewals and handle any claims though the Verlingue Claims Unit. Without this trust you might as well do it all yourself. The main benefit of using Jan is that we don’t have to go digging around to get competitive quotes and sift through the small print to make a comparison. That’s done for us and we get a clear statement of her recommendations. Claims are also hassle free.
In fact our last claim for damage caused by a pipe burst under a concrete floor was settled and the money in the bank before the plumber had cashed our cheque. Best of all is that she is there at the end of the phone or Email. No call queues, and she knows us personally. Great service.
