Simply speaking classic car insurance is insurance for classic cars. Most classic cars can be covered by a general private car insurance policy. However, it's normally beneficial to insure them with a more specialised product. Firstly, these insurance companies are used to dealing with classic cars.
Veteran car insurance is for cars from a certain period in time, generally used for all vehicles made up to and including 1918. This spans the birth of the modern car and its journey into mass production. In 1887, Panhard et Levassor were the first company to produce motor cars exclusively. By 1903 there were approximately 60,000 cars in the entire world, with familiar names like Peugeot and Renault establishing themselves within the market. In 1908 Ford were established and by 1914 they were producing more cars than all other manufacturers combined.
Vintage car insurance is generally used for cars manufactured between the years of 1919 and 1930. After the veteran car period, cars were in mass production, but were still a rarity to be seen. 1919 marked the start of rapid advances in car performance and affordability. Some of the smaller manufacturers crumbled under the strain of a depression in the early 20s.
Modern classic car insurance is for the cars considered not old enough to be classic and no longer young enough to be a future classic. Typically made from 1989 up to the millennium, the modern classic is owned by a true car enthusiast who would often use as a second cherished vehicle keeping it safely locked up at night in their garage.

Always been a great insurer for me, I can't comment on how they handle claims etc as I've luckily not been there yet. I've 4 cars with them and I'm forever on and off policies and laying vehicles up very simple and reasonable. Could be cheaper as I've been with them a long time and loyalty bonus would be good . Other than this great insurer.

I had an agreed valuation for my car 85,000, this lasted for 2 years i just recently insured again with classicline and all details given and i stated the value of the car as 85k again. I then completed the agreed valuation form and sent pictures, bearing in mind i have do less than 500 miles in 4 years. I got the vsluation back and they stated that the car valued at 65,000.i called them and asked the reason for the 20k reduction in value to be told that when it was valued last time it was overvalued.
They really do not have a clue on the value of classic cars, i will never use this company again. Think long and hard before insuring your proud and joy with these ametuers Dave

Had my renewal and called to ask them if they could do anything for me on the price as another well known company was cheaper. All I had to do was email the quote I had and straight away while I was still on the phone they price matched it for me. I have been with classic line since I got the car 5 or 6 years ago and really wanted to stay with them and thanks to them being very happy to help me out they now have me as a customer again. I contacted ClassicLine about my specific insurance requirements for my collectable but not classic Porsche 911. Other insurance companies could not help. I have had policies with ClassicLine for approximately five years, and came across them by accident when trying to arrange cover for an unregistered car I had imported, and was going through the process of registering. The way the staff handle my requests, questions and constant vehicle changes has never been anything other than professional. They are always helpful, call back when they say they will, and are genuinely interested in keeping you on-cover.
One of our vehicles is particularly difficult to insure - and as a result often has to move to a new provider each year. ClassicLine took a lot of the aggravation of trying to arrange cover away for me, and as a result have the vehicle on cover, and will do for the forseeable future. It is refreshing to be able to call an insurance company and speak to someone helpful and pleasant, who isn't on the hard-sell, and who seems genuinely interested in helping.
My only reservation, which I remind them of every time we speak, is that they unfortunately can't cover all of our vehicles. If I had the option, I would exclusively use ClassicLine for everything.

Went online last night to get details to contact the insurance and change over vehicles, left a message and had a call back today. Whilst looking at the google reviews left i got a little worried, well I shouldn't have, was rather pleased, just an admin cost and the new vehicle is worth more in value so very happy, new documents emailed to me within 5 minutes. Perfect, if only all insurance was this easy, many thanks.

Had a vehicle on a trade policy elsewhere and the broker was useless with customer service and amendments. Decided to ring around and move and Dave at ClassicLine took my call. Must say, it's old school customer service and it's bloody brilliant. A lot of places wouldn't insure based on age and vehicle but Dave did everything to get the right policy fast and at a much cheaper price than elsewhere. Thanks again!
