By all means do not buy a policy with this insurance. They will not pay for claims when referrals are given. They give the worse excuses arguing that the terminology (no matter how subjective) on the letter means they will not pay. And lastly the customer service received is appaling.

DISCLAIMER: Not yet a member, so cannot attest to quality of insurance product and services. However, while shopping around for health insurance, I had a really positive experience with one of the Freedom team, Sol Miah, who was incredibly patient, personable and helpful in dealing with all my questions and seemed to really care. Can't be easy dealing with people who are obviously shopping around and come armed with a long list of random questions, but all were expertly handled in a friendly and reassuring manner. Stark contrast to some other insurers whose response was just 'look on the website'. Freedom hadn't been on my shortlist before, but it is now. Thank you.

Following my recent great claims experience with Freedom Health Insurance I decided to leave a review for the company I've been insured with for over 2 years. They dealt with my claim quickly and in a very professional and friendly way. They listened to me and did their best to provide a smooth and very personal claims experience. The payment went directly to the hospital where I had the surgery without any hassle and I had no issues whatsoever with my claim approval or treatment.

I recently requested as a gold member made a claim for routine medical screen which the firm was able to process very quickly. The claims team responds very quickly and the firm has good customer service!

By far the worse experience I ever had with a Health insurer in the UK. Tried to save a few pounds by choosing Freedom but ended up having a terrible experience. They are quick to book you an online GP consultation but after that I had to call them back to request my prescription, taking two days to receive. They referred me to an "online pharmacist" that charged me 18 for some tablets that cost around 4.50 in Boots.

After 18 days waiting for my referral letter that never came, I just cancelled the plan. Their excuse was that they must check ALL my previous medial records before approving any claims. They were basically looking for absolutely anything to deny my claim. Luckily, my problem was a simple indigestion that soon went away, but image if I had something more serious or critical, I most certainly would be dead waiting from their referral letter. Lesson learned, better pay a few pounds more and have a proper insurer!

I have been a Freedom client for over 3 years and I was always treated in a friendly and courteous way. Their customer service has always been great, even last year when I had to make a claim for a knee surgery that was dealt with in a very professional manner and approved very quickly (despite the covid situation). I can't recommend them enough.

I approached Freedom Health for a Fit to Fly Certificate which was needed 72 hours before I travelled abroad. This was a document I needed urgently, and Dr Dan from Freedom Health was supportive and understanding throughout the whole process. I cannot recommend them enough. The service provided was quick and Dr Dan understood our needs perfectly. I thoroughly recommend Freedom Health.

Last year I have moved to Freedom from a big insurer and I don't regret it. I finally feel that I am talking to real people and not just some emotionless robots (like with the previous company). I had to make a claim twice since I switched my health insurance policy to them and I was impressed with their speed and dedication every single time. Once, I needed my claim to be approved by the next day and they've done it. I can't recommend them enough.

Avoid like the plague. Freedom will try anything to avoid approving claims, however routine or complex. Their definition of what constitutes a pre-existing condition is so broad that almost any conceivable new illness will be described as pre-existing, should your medical history include vaguely associated symptoms. For example, if you were to experience new digestive troubles that required a specialist consultant, but had previously complained to a GP of a stomach ache, Freedom will not approve the claim.

I even had a claim in which I provided written advice from a gastroenterologist of 30 years saying that the symptoms were new and not pre-existing, but Freedom consistently disputed his judgment and refused to pay out on the claim. While polite upon picking up the phone, Freedom's desire to actually support their customers through illness is abysmal. Again, avoid this company.
