UIA Mutual have over 130 years of providing value for money Home Insurance to trade union members and their families. Our cover comes in two levels: Flexi and Signature. Our Flexi Cover is designed to be flexible, allowing you to choose additional cover should you need it. If you find yourself in a home emergency, our Home Emergency Cover means we will appoint a suitably qualified contractor to visit your home. We cover the costs (within policy limits) by paying their bills, including parts, labour and call out charges.
Here at UIA we've teamed up with Purely Pets an award-winning pet insurance provider that can help you find the right level of cover for you and your pet. Up to 50% of insured pets require veterinary treatment each year following injury, illness or accident.* The average claim we receive we paid in 2020 was 441 with more complex treatments costing over 3,000.

I wouldn't use this as an insurance ever. I was recommended through our union at work.was with them for years no problem until you need to claim. I had a lot of stuff took from my shed they sent out an investigator who took pictures of the shed and of me. They asked for proof of what contents was worth which I provided but they wanted receipts the fishing kit had been collected over years so of course we couldn't find them they then lost the quote that I had got on there say so and they still refused to pay. A genuine claim of a lot of things and they tried to halt me every way they could.

I have used UIA for my home contents insurance for several years and have also changed address in the meantime. Using this as a renewal. Reminders are sent via post and in plenty of time The prices have always been reasonable and I joined as I am a member of one of the unions that are associated with UIA Had a pleasant surprise this year as price has gone down without shopping around.

Wait time to answer call was about 10 minutes, call and payment once I was through was fairly straight forward and an easy transaction. renewed by credit card (gives me the option of looking around when I get the reminder!) I have not had to make a claim so can not make any comments on that side of things (who knows the storm Eunice around at the moment and the after effects!)

I had an email conversation with Georgina at UIA this morning to update some details on my policy - she was so helpful and sorted everything out very quickly - I can't praise her enough! And I've just had my renewal letter arrive in the post - it's only increased by a few pounds since last year, so no question, UIA has my business for another year.

This business masquerades as the go-to place for trade unionists who wish to avoid the skulduggery of the capitalist providers. Indeed they mention an implied absence of "a raft of exclusions" in their policies as one of the reasons to use them. When waiting on their line listening to music, while attempting to contact them to discuss the myriad of exclusions in their travel insurance policy, l had time to contemplate one of the other arguments they use as a justification for using their agency: "does a low price come at the expense of a good service"?

While they they trumpet this in their renewal letter, their price isn't low and their service isn't good. So it's a bit like a fake Labour Party: parrots left cliches, but really is just another puppet of finance capital.

I've recently had leak through my roof caused during a storm. Claim turned down as apparently not storm damage as didn't rain enough, 2 days later it did but I'd already made the claim. Surveyor said the leak was caused by the strong winds blowing the rain up under the tiles causing the leak. No damage to roof externally so hardly something I could have forseen and prevented. Very poor service especially as only went with them as suggested for NHS employees. Will be cancelling my policy.

Critical: Quality Don't use them. My father had a policy for 16 years and when his gutters came down in a storm, they said it was due to wear and tear and would not pay out.

Very very disappointed after being with this policy provider some years paying a high premium. They did not even have the curtesy to contact me with many excuses to not support a claim for our roof. Will never recommend or use again. Please think twice not as committed to policy holders. Have lost all faith and confidence. Will inform family and friends as I passed details on and they joined UIA, to be letdown in a time of need. Very poor indeed.

We have been a customer for a year, when our renewal came through and the premium has increased by 25%. we have made no claims and our circumstances have not changed. Having been recommended by my union I believe I and possibly many others have been duped by an unscrupulous company. My sincere advice is not to do business with this company!

This Company is a joke. My uncle recently passed away and I contacted them as we thought he may have a policy with them and if so we needed to cancel it. All they did was quote GDPR to me and would not tell me if he had a policy or not. They told me to email them with a copy of the death certificate which I did, and despite sending a reminder I have still had no formal reply. Customer service is shocking - just what you need at a time like this.
